2024.06.20 - Steam Deck Observations

- The screen is definitely a highlight, especially with colors. A fantastic game to experience this with is "Mad Max" (2010); any explosions and fire shown in in the game are absolutely gorgeous, and the dusk skies are phenominal shades of pink and blue.

- The Desktop Mode has ignited a previously unknown love of KDE. The Desktop Mode overall has been surprisingly delightful to tinker with; it was assumed that a keyboard and mouse would be needed, and while it is faster to use with those extra perhipherials, there has been a great amount of thought put into configuring that desktop for controller use.

- The trackpads, while a bit tedious, are fun to type with. They align to either side of the virtual keyboard, and each key is physically represented by touching a portion of the trackpad. I like that setup a lot, it makes it easier to hit a key without a lot of hunting and pecking.

- The Heroic Launcher dev team deserves medals. All the games I've tossed at it has installed with no issue.

- Same for the EmuDeck team, though much configuring had to be done before getting RetroArch to behave in the fashion I prefer. No ill will for that, I'm picky about my emulation

- Coming up with a process for migrating non-cloud saves has been a process...I think I might cobble together something in SyncThing soon.

- In desktop mode: L1 is Control, L2 is Alt, X is delete with the keyboard visible
